BUTUAN CITY, Nov. 10 (PIA) – City Mayor Ferdinand Amante Jr. along
with the medical and relief teams of the city government has arrived Sunday
afternoon in Leyte to conduct relief operations for the victims of
Typhoon Yolanda in Tacloban City.
Amante
said they brought along initial assistance which contains packed goods,
water, food and medicines and some paraphernalia via a dump truck and
rescue vehicles to assist in the medical, clean up and clearing
operations.
“We will be staying in the city for the next few days,” said Amante.
Earlier,
Amante appealed to public for donations, may it be monetary or in kind
such as usable clothes, rice and canned goods to respond to victims of
Typhoon Yolanda, which hit Eastern and Central Visayas on Friday,
November 8.
The massive typhoon has caused storm surges, destroyed homes, loss of lives and left thousands of people in need.
With
this, Amante is continuously calling on Butuanons to donate whatever
useful items that they have including food and water to help the
victims. “These donations will be delivered anytime this week,” he said.
Concerned
citizens may send their donations at the City Disaster Risk Reduction
and Management Office, Basement Level of Butuan City Hall.
